SUCCESS ACADEMY MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ACHIEVE EXTRAORDINARY RESULTS ON 2024 NYS REGENTS EXAMS

The charter network’s 7th and 8th graders – again – outperform the City and State high school students based on state’s latest data

New York, NY, July 8, 2024 – The results are in and Success Academy middle schoolers achieved outstanding results on the 2024 New York State Regents Exams, besting 2023 results of nearly 200,000 New York high schoolers who typically take the Regents in 10th and 11th grade.

99.7% of Success Academy’s students passed the Algebra I exam and 98.4% passed the English Regents exam; 95.6% passed the Global History II exam; and 94.4% passed the Living Environment exam. In English, nearly half of Success’s students scored a level 5, the highest possible score. These scores are based on the state standard.

2,400 Success Academy 7th and 8th grade scholars – 56% of whom are Black, 31% Hispanic and 74% economically disadvantaged – took the exams in June. Typically these exams are administered to high school students.

Based on the most up to date state data, this year’s Success Academy scores outperformed 2023 results of city and state high school students by over 30%. Currently, students in New York must pass the Regents in order to graduate high school. However, New York’s State Education Department continues to advocate for the elimination of the Regents exam as a graduation requirement. At a time when school districts across the country are lowering standards, inflating grades, and limiting opportunities, Success Academy continues to prove what is possible in public education.
